Mr. Joel Bailey,

I know you were friends with Grady and are friends with Stancil; anyway, I thought I would let you know Grady's sister-in-law, Stancil's mother and my grandmother (and neighbor) passed away January 12, 2010. Her name was Evelyn Grice Campbell and she was born January 26, 1916. She always had a smile on her face. Grandmother was born in Richmond County.

For the first time there will be no death tax since 1916. NYC fails to reach 85°F in June 2009 – first time since 1916.  President Clinton and George W. Bush are the only two presidents since 1916 to have lost the popular vote and became president.

The Farmall tractor, introduced in 1923, revolutionized agriculture with a design that could navigate between rows, while allowing clearance over crops like wheat, corn and sorghum. Case IH signature red paint was first introduced in 1937 on Farmall tractors to promote safety because so many tractors were on the roads. 1935 - KODACHROME Film was introduced and became the first commercially successful amateur color film. Evenlyn Grice Campbell was alive in World War 1 and World War 2.  The first Atomic Weapon used in warfare on August 6, 1945 on Hiroshima. She was alive when man walked on the moon in 1969.  She was alive to see invention of Television by Philo Farnsworth in 1927. She had a HD television in her house for the first time in 2009 and I still do not have one. Evelyn was alive when the computer and  internet came along.

On August 26, 1920, the Nineteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution became law, and women could vote in the fall elections, including in the Presidential election. In 1962 Susie Sharp becomes first woman on the North Carolina Supreme Court. In November 2008, Beverly Perdue was elected the first female governor of North Carolina. Evelyn Grice Campbell was alive in the US during the assassinations of the 60's (MLK, JFK, RFK).

Above are only a few things my grandmother, Evelyn Grice Campbell, saw in her life time.
