As I was in Rockingham recently, I picked up my mom from Hermitage as I usually do and made a trip over to Hamlet to the Britthaven Rest Home, which has recently changed it's name to Richmond Pines Healthcare. I went there to visit one lady that was the mother of my best friends as I grew up on Old Ellerbe Rd, Marcus, Murphy and Ann Comer. That lady is Mrs Emily Comer - or - as I have referred to her and my mom in these 2001 photos in Rockingham Remembered, the Two Ladies of Old Ellerbe Road - Photo 1 and Photo 2.
My mom is 88 and I believe Mrs Comer is about the same age. Nice to see those two ladies still with us. As kids, we don't really appreciate our parents as we should but as you get older, you realize how much they meant to you and cherish the memories. (click on a photo for a larger view)
